1.6 MILLION KM2

The territorial area of AICA comprises 1,6 million km². It covers four Brazilian states in the southwestern Amazon: Acre, Amazonas, Rondônia, and Mato Grosso. This area is larger than any European country.

The region includes 78 municipalities, 98 Indigenous lands and 91 protected reserves (31 federal and 60 state. In Brazil, those protected reserves are called Conservation Units).

A REGION WITH THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF DEFORESTATION

We work at the core of the so called the “Arc of Deforestation”, where the agricultural border advances towards the forest and where the highest rates of deforestation occur.

It is a region of great importance for the future of the Amazon rain forests. It concentrates a great density of small family farms, protected reserves and indigenous peoples territories.

REFOREST AND STOP DEFORESTATION

This project allows the recovery of deforested and degraded lands in a vast area. It also prevents new deforestation, as it provides farmers with a new production model that favors sustainable agriculture and cattle practices.

The planted forests provide a better economic return to the producers, who no longer need to look for new lands in where to clear the forest.
